Workshop Registration Policy
February 2008

Priority for all programs is given first to staff and second to volunteers in the member libraries of NMRLS. If space permits, staff from other regions' member libraries and organizations that have reciprocal agreements with NMRLS will be allowed to attend.

Attendance will be limited to one person per library if a considerable number of registrations are received.

Pre-registration is required for all continuing education programs. Registrations are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Separate forms must be submitted for each staff member wishing to attend. Forms may be returned to the NMRLS office by fax, mail or delivery. Participants may also register for workshops online from the NMRLS web site at http://www.nmrls.org/ce/.

Unemployed librarians living in the Northeast Region may register for workshops on a space available basis if they are a librarian between jobs and a resident of the Northeast Region. Unemployed librarians will be wait-listed to ensure active NMRLS members get first priority.  Permission for unemployed librarians attending workshop is at the discretion of NMRLS.

Participants will receive notification indicating the courses they are confirmed to attend and those that are full.

If a pre-registered individual is unable to attend a program, they should notify the NMRLS office as soon as possible.

Failure to notify the office 24 hours in advance of the program will result in the registrant receiving the lowest registration priority for any other workshops being held that quarter and the next.

NMRLS may cancel workshops due to unforeseen complications or inclement weather. If a cancellation is made prior to the date of a program, registrants will be contacted. In the event of inclement weather, a message will be placed on the NMRLS answering machine, the NMRLS web site and listserv by 7:30 a.m. If the schools are closed in the town where the workshop was to be held, the program will be cancelled.

It is good practice to always check the NMRLS web site or answering machine if you are unsure if a workshop is being held. If a presenter is unable to travel and cancels a workshop unexpectedly, these are the only way that NMRLS can make that information available to you.
