The Lynn Public Library central location is a magnificent building located on North Common Street. The Library opened in 1900 and its style is categorized as Renaissance Revival. Although the library also supports three active branches, the central location houses the bulk of our historical and archival information. The Reference Department maintains a picture collection of approximately 1190 photographs dating back to the late 1800’s. The collection also includes newspaper clippings and scrapbooks that document Lynn events back to the turn of the century. Local genealogy is well represented at the library, with the availability of city directories and vital records. The Lynn Public Library is a very useful resource for historical information.
