7000-9507 - BLC Public Libraries Fund
Mr. Rice of Gardner moves to amend the bill in section 2, by inserting
after item 7000-9506 the following item: "7000-9507 For the purposes
of implementing a public library matching incentive grant program;
provided, that a 50 cent state match shall be made for each dollar
local trustees and public library foundations raise; provided further,
that eligible state matching funds shall be made available to
municipalities that raise at least $2,000 and only up to $100,000
raised; and provided further, that funds from this item shall be made
available to the local public library trustees for the enhancement of
library services and shall not be used as part of the local match for
an approved public library project as defined in section 19H of chapter
78 of the General Laws or to meet the appropriation requirement as
defined in section 19A of chapter 78 of the General Laws $250,000".

Massachusetts House Ways
and Means Budget fy2009
The Massachusetts House Ways and Means Committee FY2009 state budget was
released today. The full House of Representatives will be debating and
voting on amendments to the FY2009 House Ways and Means budget during
the week of April 28th. The Massachusetts Senate will release their
version of the FY2009 state budget in mid May, 2008. After both House
and Senate finish voting on their versions of FY2009 state budget a
Conference Committee will be appointed to resolve the differences.
Then the FY2009 state budget goes to the Governor who has the authority
to line item veto.
