New Reference Additions:

The two-volume set, the Encyclopedia of Evolution, covers all aspects of evolution including the fundamental concepts and theories of evolution, behavioral ecology, population genetics, and human cultural evolution. The articles are written on a scholarly level with bibliographic information for further study.

Great American Writers: Twentieth Century is geared to the middle and high school student. Each article in this thirteen-volume set contains a description of the author's life, complete list of works, analysis of major works, and a bibliography for further study.

United States in the Nineteenth Century describes the issues and ideas in the century characterized by the territorial and population expansion. Individual articles on the political parties, foreign relations, description of major cities, communication, and advertising make this encyclopedia a tool for middle and high school social studies projects.

Javier Crespo, the Consumer Health Coordinator for the New England Region of the National Library of Medicine presented a hands-on training session at the March MVLC Reference Committee meeting. He demonstrated NLM databases that can be used to answer consumer health questions.
