Mark Your Calendars: Museum of Fine Arts Development Day

Please mark your calendars for Friday, May 7th -- this is the date the Museum of Fine Arts has set aside for their spectacular professional development day in support of the 2004 Statewide Summer Reading Program, "Explore Other Worlds @your libraryŽ." Interested librarians and staff members from any of the six Massachusetts Regional Library Systems are invited to spend the day with us at the MFA, enjoying workshop sessions in the midst of the beautiful art galleries. It's a great way to charge your creative batteries for your summer program!

The Youth Services Book Review Group meets once a month, from 10:00 to 12:00, at the NMRLS office in Danvers. Books from publishers are available to reviewers in advance of their publication date. Reviews are shared each session in round-robin fashion. New reviewers are always welcome! Just come and the books will fall into your hands! Registration is not required.

Best and Worst of Times Survival Toolkit

A Youth Services series of workshops to help colleagues both in public and school libraries with advocacy, programs, services, and management in light of grim budgets. Workshop Three - Programming for Tomorrow's World Topics in this workshop will include:

  • Programming in the Library
  • Non-traditional programming
  • Resource and Information sharing

Presenters are: Kate Belczyck, Children's Librarian, Memorial Hall Library, Andover; Jennifer Brown, Reference Librarian, Governor Dummer Academy, Byfield; Beth Gallaway, Young Adult Librarian, Haverhill Public Library; and Mary Hichborn, Library Media Specialist, A. W. Coolidge Middle School, Reading.

Participants should bring a brown bag lunch; beverages and dessert will be provided.
