Boston Public Library Offers Chinese Language Magazines Online
The Boston Public Library is making Dragonsource, the online database of Chinese language magazines, available to library users throughout Massachusetts from its website, www.bpl.org/. This database has been licensed for state-wide use and interested libraries can place a direct link for remote access on their website by using:
mblc.state.ma.us/cgi-bin/remote.pl?db=qikan
Through Dragonsource, Chinese language readers of different ages and levels can read 100 magazines published in China, and enjoy reading articles in either traditional or simplified characters. The database includes an array of publications covering fashion, travel, business, sports, current affairs, entertainment and other areas of interest.
As the Boston Public Library is serving a growing Chinese population, this online database is a great way to offer a significant number of magazines to supplement the print collections of libraries state-wide.
Patrons can access the Dragonsource database remotely using a valid library card from any Massachusetts library system. Access is also offered free of charge at computer terminals in the Boston Public Library's 27 branches throughout the city.
