Invest Wisely - READ!
4/25/2006 -- 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM -- NMRLS, Danvers
National studies show that many high school graduates lack basic money management skills and learn through trial and error--often with disastrous results. Several governmental and banking entities have encouraged private and public organizations in offering educational programs to empower youth in making better financial decisions.
You don't have to be a CPA to offer financial literacy workshops at your branch. If you interested in empowering youth with practical life-skills find out how simple financial literacy programs can bring rewarding returns to your youth services library programming efforts.
Vickie Beene-Beavers, Assistant Administrator for Youth Services at SEMLS will facilitate and also discuss her 2003 VOYA nominated MVP award for her Invest Wisely...READ! campaign. Vickie's Teen Investment Week program was featured in "More Teen Programs That Work" edited by Rosemary Honnold (Neal-Schuman, 2005).
