Fit and Lit Wins Patterson Award The Huckleberry Hill School in Lynnfield is the recipient of a $5000 James Patterson Pageturner Award for its Fit and Lit reading incentive program, one of only two prizes awarded in New England and the only one given to a school. The award recognizes innovation in spreading excitement about books and reading. Connie Krueger, Library Media Specialist, and Physical Education teacher Mary Robertson collaborated to develop the Fit and Lit program to encourage reading and exercise. MSLA/MLA Collaboration

School and public libraries have many similarities, but in fact, their missions are quite different. MSLA and the Youth Services Section of MLA have developed three joint statements, the most recent on school/public library collaboration, that define these similarities and differences while outlining ways that both can work together to provide services to the youth of Massachusetts.
