It's The Law!
Occasionally, the Regional ILL Centers get requests for legal items. We recently got a request for a book on "The Electric Chair in Massachusetts" published in 1929. We didn't see this in WorldCat so we turned to the Massachusetts Trial Court Law Libraries to see if they could help locate this book. There are 17 Trial Court Law Libraries located in Massachusetts. They provide legal reference service to anyone and are especially available to provide resources and reference for all libraries at no charge. Shortly after that request, the Head Law Librarian, Richard Adamo, spoke at Salem State College on Law Reference and I had an opportunity to learn more about their services. Their resources are available through their website: http://www.lawlib.state.ma.us as well as the location of all the libraries and "Ask A Law Librarian." The site has information on state and federal law, databases available for research, pathfinders and essential links to law resources. Though I am sorry to say they were not able to locate the book I was looking for, it was an opportunity to see this resource in action. I encourage all to recommend it and if any other law requests come my way I will consult with them again.
Happy Holidays and Best in the New Year from The ILL Centers!
