New Reference Additions

The Encyclopedia of New England examines the history and culture of New England in twenty-two thematic areas including architecture, education, literature, and the performing arts.

The PDR for Herbal Medications, now in its third edition, analyzes herbal medications and nutritional supplements listing pharmacology, dosage, and adverse effects. Also included are clinical trials and a bibliography for further study.

Movies Made for Television lists information on over 5400 films and miniseries including the date first televised, a brief description of the plot, the cast, and production company.

Entreworld provides information for small business owners from the startup through the growing phase. A third area of this database includes information on entrepreneurship.

Talking Information Center: www.ticnetwork.com
The Talking Information Center broadcasts newspapers, magazines, and consumer information for visually impaired people using a special receiver.

Why are race tracks called downs?

Answer: Definition of downs: An area of high, open, grassy land, especially in the British Isles. American horseracing, in homage to the English racing tracks, has adopted this terminology.
