The Lawrence Campus Library of Northern Essex Community College is pleased to be hosting an exhibit titled, "Lawrence, Massachusetts: A First American Home". On loan from the Lawrence History Center, the exhibit chronicles Lawrence's past as an immigrant destination. Through a series of 18 hanging panels, the display summarizes the history of Lawrence, and interprets the city's development within an immigration context.

The exhibition originally was put on display at Ellis Island, NY, and has since been shown locally, including at the Lawrence Heritage State Park & Visitor's Center. The exhibit will be on loan to the library through the Spring semester. The exhibit is open to the public and is free of charge. Northern Essex Community College is please to announce that Jennifer A. Fielding has been hired as a Librarian at the Lawrence Campus. Jenny joins NECC after working for the past year at Haverhill Public Library. Jenny brings a degree in English and a background in marketing to the position, and she is currently pursuing a MLS degree through Southern Connecticut State University. Jenny replaces Bette Tsoutsouras, who left the college in September.
