Thanks to the membership for submitting your October 2007 delivery surveys. And thanks to Lucie Gallagher for collecting and tabulating the data.
Volume was a bit lighter during the one-week snapshot of bins and items in October than it was in March. This was the same pattern we saw last year. The chart below summarizes monthly reports of network transfers in the MVLC and NOBLE networks. Volume has been stable during 2007. We thank MVLC and NOBLE for these reports.
The October 2007 weekly delivery survey indicated that members put over 1,332 bins and 39,550 items into delivery for shipment to other libraries. A total of about 80,000 network transfers during the month is in keeping with this weekly sample because the number of network transfers shows the shipping of items and not their return. The total items delivered is 160,000 including returns or about 40,000 per week. This shows an average of 29.7 items per bin which is similar to past surveys.
