On January 28th, NMRLS hosted a Brown Bag discussion on library meeting room policies. Sharon Gilley, Director of the Beebe Library, and Tom Mullen, Wakefield Town Counsel, shared the decisions Wakefield made in planning for a World Church of the Creator meeting held in September. The group had booked one of the library's public meeting rooms. Staff and trustees from a number of member libraries attended and heard considerations of public safety and First Amendment rights. For more details of the event, see page 10 of the November/December 2002 MBLC Notes: http://www.mlin.lib.ma.us/mblc/publications/notes/21.6/v21n6.pdf.

In November, the Board of Trustees of the Beebe Library approved revised meeting room policies. To read them, click on http://www.noblenet.org/wakefield/ameetingpol.htm.
