Governor Mitt Romney recently announced budget cuts to local aid. The regional library systems, including NMRLS were not subject to any cuts in this round. We are, however, continuing to implement cost cutting measures to prepare for possible cuts in the future. Services for the current, FY2003, will continue as planned.

A Library Technology Bond Bill was filed with 42 cosponsors to provide funding for core services for all areas of the state, e.g., databases, delivery, network telecommunications, statewide virtual catalog, MassCat, and the journal article clearinghouse.
