Twenty-four Friends of Libraries and staff members from 11 different libraries met on Saturday, January 7, at Hamilton-Wenham Public Library to network and exchange ideas from their groups. Each Friends organization brought a refreshment to share, as we discussed book sales and Friends shops.
Thank you to Maureen Killoran and Brian Donoghue, staff of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, who spoke about the role of Friends and the assistance available to them from MBLC; to Nancy Rea and Cindy Cavallaro, who brought a wonderful "show and tell" from the Haverhill Friends Shop; to Becky Herrmann and Madeleine Needles, of Chelmsford Public Library, and Jody Sherman, of Beebe Library in Wakefield, who guided the group through their book sale timelines and successes; and to Shirley Toomey, from Nevins Library in Methuen, who brought greetings from the Massachusetts Friends of Libraries.
NMRLS was pleased to be able to facilitate this event. Many, many thanks go out to the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library for hosting this meeting for the second consecutive year. We appreciate the coordination and work of Friends Heidi Chisholm, Mary Miceli, Madelyn Liberti, Peter Myers, Doris Gallant, and Library Director Jan Dempsey.
