By Julie Biando Edwards, Adult Services Librarian
The Peabody Institute Library, Peabody, announced an exciting visit by Doris "Granny D" Haddock on February 7th at 7:00 pm at the Wiggin Auditorium in Peabody City Hall.
A native of New Hampshire, author and activist "Granny D" made history at age 90 when she walked across the country to raise awareness of campaign finance reform. She chronicled her journey in a book Granny D: You're Never Too Old to Raise a Little Hell, which she co-wrote with Dennis Burke. The library is distributing copies of this book as part of our "Read it Forward" community event. Community members who come across copies of her book distributed by the library are encouraged to read it, visit our website to tell us where they found it and what they think of it, and pass it on to someone they know - or leave it somewhere for a new reader!
