We have calculated the value of services provided to member libraries in fiscal year 2005. The total value of service was $7.71 per dollar invested in NMRLS for a regional total over $11.6 million. The chart below illustrates the average value for each type of library.
The value of service is calculated each year for the membership to determine what the retail price would be for all of the services provided by NMRLS. This establishes a tangible value of the regionalization of services to members in northeast Massachusetts which provides libraries with enhanced services at a much lower cost than is available to individual libraries.
We are mailing individual, more detailed value of service reports to academic, public, and school library members which should arrive in early March.
