For Museums and Public Libraries with Special Collections
The Institute of Museum and Library Services & the American Association of State and Local History are offering 2,000 free copies of the Connecting to Collections Bookshelf, a core set of books, DVDs, online resources, and an annotated bibliography that are essential for the care of collections. The IMLS Connecting to Collections Bookshelf is intended to provide small and medium-sized libraries and museums with essential resources needed to improve the condition of their collections. The Bookshelf includes books and DVDs, as well as a guide to online resources and an annotated bibliography of all the materials.
The bookshelf application period is March 1 to April 15, 2008. Instructions, qualifications, and the content of the IMLS Bookshelf, along with the online application, can be found at the AASLH - http://www.aaslh.org/Bookshelf/.
For Museums
The Institute of Museum and Library Services seeks grant applications from museums, museum service organizations, and universities for proposals that will enhance the professional development of museum staff. The 21st Century Museum Professionals Grants are intended to have an impact on multiple institutions by reaching broad groups of museum professionals in cities, counties, states, regions, or the nation. The deadline is March 15.

For Museums, Public and Special Libraries
NEH Preservation Assistance Grants help small and mid-sized institutions, such as libraries, museums, historical societies, archival repositories, town and county records offices, and colleges, improve their ability to preserve and care for their humanities collections. These may include special collections of books and journals, archives and manuscripts, prints and photographs, moving images, sound recordings, architectural and cartographic records, decorative and fine arts, textiles, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, furniture, and historical objects.
