Replaces "Reference On Call"

Answers...To Go! replaced "Reference on Call" on July 1, 2003. This service, provided at no charge to residents in the 54 towns served by NMRLS, is designed to serve the library needs of home users via the Web.

Due to state budget reductions, we needed to eliminate the after hours "on Call" services. Hence the name change. We hope that the chat-based 24/7 reference service, the public library directory to facilitate call-in service to your local library, along with electronic resources provided here will meet most of your patrons' reference needs.

Answers...To Go! is designed only to supplement local library services. We encourage patrons first to visit and support their local library when this site does not meet all of their library needs.

We announced Answers...To Go! in the May Newsletter. In June, there were already 150 visitors a day to the site. (During that same month, the NMRLS site had 750 visitors a day.) The transition seems to be going smoothly! We invite comments and questions at http://www.nmrls.org/answers/contactindex.html on the service.
