As you may know, our contract with Minute Man Transit of Norwood, Massachusetts ended on June 30, 2003. In April 2003, we participated in a joint RFP (Request for Proposals) for Delivery Services with the Southeast and MetroWest Regional Library Systems. After reviewing several responses to our bid, the NMRLS Delivery Task Force (Doug Rendell, Peabody Institute Library in Danvers; Linda Dyndiuk, JV Fletcher Library in Westford; Greg Pronevitz, NMRLS; and Susan Grabski, NMRLS) recommended that we contract with CD&L of Boston.

The new contract with CD&L became effective Tuesday, July 1, 2003. The transition has been a bit rocky during these first few weeks; however, we hope that delivery service to the Northeast region will improve steadily in the weeks to come.

We sincerely thank all of the libraries who have provided us with feedback on the new service. It is crucial that we address problems head-on in the beginning so that our new drivers and sorters may establish accurate and efficient ways of carrying out delivery service to our region.

We encourage participating libraries to continue provide us with feedback on how the new service is going - both positive and negative. If we don't know where the problems are, we can't improve the service! Please contact either Lucie Gallagher (lucie@nmrls.org) or Susan Grabski (sgrabski@nmrl.org).
