Volunteer Web Portal: Something New for Your Library Web Site
Connect and Serve is a free volunteer web portal on Mass.gov www.mass.gov/connectandserve.
This website as a place for non-profit organizations, schools, governmental agencies, cities, and towns to post one-time and on-going volunteer positions they are seeking to fill. In turn, residents can search for interesting volunteer opportunities in their communities. Although this is a statewide initiative, the focus is local so that regardless of where an individual lives, he or she may volunteer close to home.
Libraries are the perfect partner to promote Connect and Serve as a resource for residents who want to volunteer at the library or at any organization in their community. The site is searchable by a resident's interests and locality.
Consider putting a link to Connect and Serve on your library homepage, or post a Connect and Serve flyer in your library. If you are interested in either of these, contact Kelsey McCoy at (617) 542-2544 x211 or e-mail kmccoy@mass-service.org
Connect and Serve is an initiative of the Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA), a private non-profit organization that serves as the state commission on service and volunteering. MSA also funds AmeriCorps. For more information about MSA please visit our website www.mass-service.org
