An Update from the

New Databases

The MBLC librarian web pages: http://mblc.state.ma.us/grants/licenses/index.php have been updated, as well as the MBLC public webpages: http://mblc.state.ma.us/books/magazine/index.php

A few key things to remember:

InfoTrac - two databases were changed. Since General BusinessFile ASAP covers 100% of the content of Business and Company ASAP, we have dropped Business and Company ASAP; Educator's Reference Complete incorporates all of the content of Professional Collection, so that has also been dropped.

The New York Times, full-text from 1995 in Academic OneFile can also be searched as a standalone file. It is current, but it takes a few days for the papers to be loaded. Your region or your local library may license the NYT from another vendor with a deeper backfile and the current issue available online. For free access to the current paper, see

The Boston Globe, Herald, and Worcester Telegram, formerly provided by NewsBank are now provided by Proquest. In all, the "Massachusetts Newsstand" from Proquest has 12 newspapers.

All library directors were sent a letter dated June 1 (probably received June 8-15) describing how to set up access for all of the statewide electronic resources as of July 1, 2007, as well as, new password information for the new contracts. If your director has not yet forwarded that letter to the person in your organization responsible for updating your library web pages, please contact your library director for a copy of the letter.
