LSTA "Imagining History" Grant
Five libraries (Beverly High School, Lawrence Public, Lynn Public, Peabody Institute/Peabody, and Stephen Phillips Trust House) will be involved in the first year of NMRLS' "Imagining History" grant. Two staff members from Backstage Library Works (Orem, Utah) will be on hand at these libraries and at NMRLS between June 21 and 30 to scan and digitize selected collections. Backstage Library Works will also create metadata for the images. Watch for these collections on the Northeast Massachusetts Digital Library http://www.nmrls.org/nmdl/http://www.nmrls.org/nmdl/
LSTA "The Library Experience: Older Citizens" Grant
The first part of the Lifelong Access Institute was held on May 19, at NMRLS. Funded
through an LSTA grant entitled, "The Library Experience: Older Citizens," 19 directors, assistant directors, and outreach staff members attended the session. Diantha Schull and Carol Greenfield represented Libraries for the Future (LFF), NMRLS' partner in the grant. They spoke of the need for libraries to plan for the next wave of older, active adult library users, pointing to the LFF Lifelong Access model already in place at libraries in other states. The group shared lively programming discussion! The second part of the Institute will take place on September 30.
