Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America's Women Physicians
The ALA Public Programs Office, in collaboration with the National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland, announces a tour of a new traveling exhibition celebrating the lives and achievements of women in medicine since they first gained admission to American medical schools 150 years ago. Libraries selected for the tour (there will be 40) will host the exhibition for a six-week period. Applications to host the exhibition are invited from public, academic and medical libraries in the United States. The Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities supports project-related grants for public humanities activities. Among the types of projects funded are lecture series, forums, and oral history projects. The remaining 2004 deadlines are August 1 and November 1.
