New Reference Additions:

Billboard Illustrated Encyclopedia of Music breaks the genre of popular and classical music into their component styles. For instance, jazz contains detailed descriptions for Ragtime, New Orleans Jazz, Chicago Jazz, Swing, Dixieland, and Cool Jazz.

Mythology for Storytellers divides myths into seven categories: creation, death, rebirth, heavenly bodies, earth, gods, and heroes. Each category contains stories from around the world including India, Japan, Scandinavia and Native America.

Check out the Librarians Index to the Internet "Current Themes" for quick access to authoritative web sites on timely topics. For example, the theme for the 2004 election has links to web sites on absentee voting, the candidates, election law, and voter registration.

FirstGov for Science - www.science.gov
Science.gov contains reliable scientific information from government agencies including the Food and Drug Administration, the National Geographic Data Center, The United States Geological Survey, the Department of Energy, and research centers across the country. You can search by keyword, or by browsing the directory.
