Database Survey Results:
We asked you to complete the statewide database survey to help evaluate our statewide offerings and plan for our next procurement process to license content for July 2007. Thank you so much for your input. 564 surveys were completed by regional library staff from every type of library in all six regions!
A summary of the numerical results is now posted on our website. To view these results,
click on the link to the Database Survey Results in the news section www.mass.gov/mblc.org or

A thorough analysis of the many comments and data is now underway. The narrative for this analysis will be reported in an upcoming issue of MBLC Notes.
Board Supports New Youth Directory of Civic Engagement & Leadership Development Programs
The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners is pleased to help promote a new Directory of Civic Engagement & Leadership Development Programs for Massachusetts Youth published by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA). "A strong democracy requires an informed citizenry," says Robert C. Maier, Director. "The library is one of the places in any community where youth have access to the information resources they need to make informed decisions in a neutral environment. This new directory is a resource for libraries and for youth, and libraries, as centers of civic engagement, will want to use it as a source of program ideas that build the relationship with youth in their communities."
The Directory is a new and essential resource for introducing young people to a diverse array of civic education opportunities. The listed programs greatly expand young people's choices for learning about the electoral and political processes, leadership, and community activism.
The Directory is available now on the League's website at www.lwvma.org.
