MODEL Conference, April 27, 2004, Falmouth, MA
The Boston Public Library (BPL), in partnership with NMRLS and
NELINET, has been awarded a two-year LSTA grant through the MBLC
to investigate the creation of a statewide digital library. As a
key component of the grant, the BPL and its partners will host a
conference to share best practices, discuss challenges, and learn
about potential solutions for digital collection building.
Liz Bishoff, Vice President, OCLC Digital Collection and
Preservation Services, and most recently Executive Director of
the Colorado Digitization Program, will present the keynote
address. The program will include breakout sessions in which
participants will discuss the issues surrounding the creation of
a statewide digital library for Massachusetts, including
technical solutions, guidelines for collections, and the
development of a governance model.
The conference will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2004, as a
pre-conference to the MLA Annual Conference. It will be held at
the MLA conference location - the Sea Crest Resort in Falmouth,
MA. Additional details about the conference and registration
materials will be available soon via the NELINET web site:
