This library advocacy event is open to library directors, staff, and supporters (trustees & friends) and was planned by the NMRLS Legislative Education Committee.
Speakers and Topics:
- Representative, Mark Falzone (Lynn, Lynnfield, Saugus, & Wakefield), will discuss his views on advocacy.
- John Arnold, former chair of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, brings a unique perspective as a town finance committee member.
- Meredith McCulloch, former director of the Bedford Public Library, will bring her passion for politics to the evening.

Library Legislative Day - April 5th at the State House

MLA Library Legislative Day is an annual event, sponsored by the MLA Legislative Committee. Library supporters are urged to come to the State House and advocate with their Legislators to address state funding for library service in Massachusetts. All are welcome, registration is not required.
Two Legislative Briefings will be held at 10am and 11am. A luncheon and program will begin at noon in the Great Hall. This will include the 2007 Library Advocacy Award presentation.
Participants are encouraged to visit legislators throughout the day. Librarians, trustees and, friends of libraries are urged to attend.
A welcome coffee will begin at 9:30am, sponsored by the Massachusetts Center for the Book. The Center for the Book will present its annual Letters about Literature Awards at 10am.
