The mission of Staples Foundation for Learning is to provide funding to programs that support or provide job skills and/or education for all people, with a special emphasis on disadvantaged youth.

For Public Libraries and Community Collaborations
The Save Our History National Grant Program, developed by the History Channel, provides funding for collaborations between history organizations and schools or youth groups on projects that teach children about their local heritage and actively engage them in its preservation.
The application deadline is June 1, 2007. Visit HERE for program details and application guidelines.
The Comcast Foundation funds programs that support literacy at http://www.comcast.com/corporate/about/inthecommunity/literacy/literacy.html and diversity at http://www.comcast.com/corporate/about/inthecommunity/foundation/diversityfund.html in the communities it serves. Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis.

For Digital Initiatives in the Humanities
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is providing start-up grants to support the planning of digital initiatives in all areas of the humanities. The grant money may be used for research, planning, and exploration projects. Cost-sharing is not required as part of this funding initiative.

For Historical Collections
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission's (NHPRC) Electronic Records grant program supports projects that will lead to sustainable electronic records programs in state archives and other historical records repositories.
The deadline is June 1. For more information and application materials visit the NHPRC web site at http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/announcement/electronic.html.
Small historical organizations may apply for Research Inventory Grants at http://www.mfh.org/grants/grantypes/rig.htm from the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities. These grants of up to $1,000 may be used to support the costs of conducting inventory projects designed with specific research questions in mind.

The application package for the 2007 Improving Literacy Through School Libraries (LSL) program competition is now available.
