Teens.library: How to integrate the 'Net into Youth Services
6/5/03 -- 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM -- NMRLS, Danvers

What teens like to do on the Internet and what librarians want them to do on the Internet aren't always the same. So, what's a librarian to do? The answer, explore the resources on the 'Net that attract teens and find ways for integrating those same types of resources into young adult library program and services. In this workshop you'll explore the sites and technologies teens are using (chat, IM, blogs, etc.), find out why they appeal to teens and how they meet teen developmental needs, and investigate how libraries across the country are starting to integrate the Internet into their service to teens, both in the library and outside the library's four walls.

This workshop will be led by Linda Braun.

Ellison Die-Cut Machine:
NMRLS owns an Ellison machine, which is available for member use. You need only to call the office in advance! We have several dies, members own even more. Please check out this site to see a listing by members. Actual borrowing will need to be arranged between borrower and lender. Lenders may have policies in place that dictate the use of their Ellison machines. It is best to call in advance if you are interested in borrowing or using the die cuts. This is a resource sharing among library members only.
