Twice a year, in October and in March, NMRLS asks our delivery participants to conduct a week long survey of their delivery volume. In addition to being required for our state statistical reporting, it provides us with a nice snapshot of the activity in the region. The data also assists us with evaluating route structure and helps us estimate our budgetary and contractual needs.
The March 2004 "Top Ten Libraries with the Largest Weekly Volume" are (drum roll...):
| | Library | City | # of bins | # of items |
| 1 | Memorial Hall Library | Andover | 88 | 2,927 |
| 2 | Chelmsford Public Library | Chelmsford | 63 | 1,950 |
| 3 | Newburyport Public Library | Newburyport | 65 | 1,519 |
| 4 | Haverhill Public Library | Haverhill | 44 | 1,216 |
| 5 | J. V. Fletcher Library | Westford | 36 | 1,160 |
| 6 | Burlington Public Library | Burlington | 37 | 1,097 |
| 7 | Samuel Pollard Memorial Library | Lowell | 37 | 1,080 |
| 8 | Stevens Memorial Library | North Andover | 35 | 1,073 |
| 9 | Amesbury Public Library | Amesbury | 33 | 1,053 |
| 10 | Nevins Memorial Library | Methuen | 36 | 1,011 |
Thank you to ALL the NMRLS delivery service participants for providing us, once again, with a week's worth of delivery volume data - WELL DONE!! Thanks also go to Lucie Gallagher, of NMRLS, for coordinating and compiling the survey results.
