Paralibrarian Committee Update!

The new name for the Paraprofessional Section is, by majority vote:

MLA PARALIBRARIAN SECTION

Congratulations to our two fabulous award winners:

• Outstanding Paraprofessional of the Year - Lynne Riley of Holy Cross Library in Worcester
• Outstanding Advocate of the Year - Allison DaSilva of Reading Public Library.

Elections were held as per the agenda with the following results and congratulations to:

Chair	Betsy Wolfe Marlborough Public	1 year term
Vice Chair	Beverly Winn Nevins Memorial, Methuen	2 year term
Sect/Treas	Virginia Costello Springfield College Library	2 year term
At Large/Conference	Allison DaSilva Reading Public Library	1 year term
At Large/Certification	Deborah Bockus Worcester Polytechnic Institute	1 year term

The bylaws were amended as presented. Major changes include:

• We have voted to change our name.
• We have rescinded the $5 fee to join the Section.
• The officer position of Secretary/Treasurer has been divided into two positions of Secretary and Treasurer starting with the next election.
• The Vice Chair position has been expanded to also serve as Membership Chair.
• The Immediate Past Chair has been assigned as the Nominating Committee Chair.

The amended bylaws will be presented for final approval to the Association at the next MLA Executive Board meeting.
