Twice a year, in October and in March, NMRLS asks our delivery participants to conduct a week long survey of their delivery volume. In addition to being required for our state statistical reporting, it provides us with a nice snapshot of the activity in the region. The data also assists us with evaluating route structure and helps us estimate our budgetary and contractual needs.
The March 2005 "Top Ten Libraries with the Largest Weekly Volume" are (drum roll...):
| | Library | City | # of items |
| 1 | Chelmsford Public Library | Chelmsford | 2,342 |
| 2 | Memorial Hall Library | Andover | 1,890 |
| 3 | Newburyport Public Library | Newburyport | 1,430 |
| 4 | Peabody Institute Library | Peabody | 1,296 |
| 5 | Nevins Memorial Library | Methuen | 1,247 |
| 6 | Stevens Memorial Library | North Andover | 1,198 |
| 7 | Burlington Public Library | Burlington | 1,190 |
| 8 | Samuel Pollard Memorial Library | Lowell | 1,189 |
| 9 | Haverhill Public Library | Haverhill | 1,169 |
| 10 | J. V. Fletcher Library | Westford | 1,164 |
Thank you to ALL the NMRLS delivery service participants for providing us, once again, with a week's worth of delivery volume data - WELL DONE!! Thanks also go to Lucie Gallagher, of NMRLS, for coordinating and compiling the survey results.
