NMRLS Executive Board Meeting Summary

School Recertification:
Susan Grabski updated the Board on the status of school recertification. Since the Board met last month, two schools that were removed from NMRLS membership have contacted NMRLS. One has met membership requirements and the second has submitted a waiver request. The Board discussed and approved two waiver requests.
Removal of School Libraries for not Meeting Eligibility Requirements:
Susan Grabski explained that two schools no longer meet NMRLS membership requirements. Both libraries have been sent a letter informing them that the Board would be taking action to remove their libraries from membership at today's meeting. The Board discussed the issues and voted to remove the schools from membership for no longer meeting membership requirements.
Discussion Items:
Fy2009 Strategic Plan Implementation -- NMRLS staff summarized their respective areas of the proposed Strategic Plan Implementation document. Greg made mention of the impact of recent price increases we received from our health insurance carrier (19%) and how this will be discussed next year by the Personnel Committee. This document will be submitted for approval in May.
FY2008 Member Satisfaction Survey -- Greg Pronevitz summarized a draft survey document. It is our shortest member survey yet and includes just two sections: Library Satisfaction with NMRLS Current Services and New Initiatives. Board members made several suggestions that will be included in the final version.
Delivery Services and Contract-- Susan Grabski conveyed that our delivery contractor continues to make significant improvements since our last meeting. Their operations manager continues to make changes to the way sorting is conducted including moving sorting to the afternoon and has begun to provide next day delivery of all items. We are awaiting upgrades to routing and vehicle capacity. The changes remain encouraging; however, there is still work to be done.
The Delivery Committee met on April 8, 2008. The group discussed current service concerns, upcoming Spring ILL/Delivery Open Houses, and approved a draft procedure for handling delayed items in delivery.
