General Laws Popular Name Table Added to Website
As part of our continuing update and improvements to our website, a Massachusetts General Laws Popular Name Table has been added. The purpose of this table is to provide links to information on legal topics, which are in the news or are of general interest to people living in Massachusetts. The topics are linked to selected General Laws, agency regulations (CMR), and/or other specialized information (e.g., Child Support Guidelines) appropriate to the topic.
So, the next time a patron is looking for the "Age of Majority" (M.G.L. c.4, s.7 (cl.48 51)), or the "Lemon Law for Pets" (330 CMR 12.05), or a host of other references, just click on http://www.lawlib.state.ma.us/popname.html. Also, if you know of any similar sources, which should be listed but are not, please let us know so that we can add them.
Seeking Spanish Language Legal Resources:
The Lawrence Law Library has begun implementation of an LSTA Community Languages grant awarded by the MBLC for FY2004. As part of that endeavor, we are at this time in the process of locating Spanish Language legal resources, and would welcome any suggestions from the library community regarding specific materials (print, electronic, audio-visual or multimedia), vendors of these materials, or legal materials which you would like to see in Spanish. Materials may also encompass such areas as consumer matters, personal finance, and similar areas.
Please send all comments, suggestions and requests to Rachel Diaz at the Lawrence Law Library diaz_r@jud.state.ma.us, and watch this space for updates as the project year progresses.
