NMRLS Strategic Planning Committee met on October 27th at the NMRLS office to begin the process of creating NMRLS second strategic plan. Our facilitator, Alan Brickman, led the group through discussions of determining information-gathering needs for this yearlong process.
NMRLS will be inviting groups from member libraries and outside libraries to participate in a number of surveys, focus groups, and telephone interviews to assist us in planning. I encourage you to participate in this process to make sure that the perspective of your library is included.
We considered a large number of factors in our "environmental scan." We will gather information on topics such as those that follow:
- Demographics
- Instruction and training needs
- Internet and computer use
- Legal issues
- Library facilities
- Library use
- Patron access to materials
- Regionalization
- Technology changes
