Stumper for October:
Question: I have a letter that is signed by a famous actor. Do you know where I can have the signature verified?
Answer: Stuart Whitehurst at Skinner Auctioneers and Appraisers
357 Main Street
Bolton, MA 01740
Phone: 978-779-6241
Fax: 978-779-5144
Doreen Morse of the Reuben Hoar Library in Littleton had another source for signature verification: The Professional Autograph Dealer's Association http://www.padaweb.org listed Gerard A. J. Stodolski Inc. in Bedford, New Hampshire. It's a great site. It lists firms that authenticate and appraise signatures in a variety of disciplines, including history, music, and film. Thank you, Doreen!
