Lori Beth Spector, the Children's Librarian at Amesbury Public Library, is leaving her position in early December. She is heading to Maryland for new adventures and to be nearer to family. She was President of NOBS, she created summer reading program skits shared with the state, and she was Susan Babb's sometime Curves partner!


Christin Donahue is the new LMS at Lakeview Jr. High School, in Dracut. She replaces Maureen Beattie-Waterworth.


Welcome to Michele Augeri, the new YA Librarian at Hamilton-Wenham! Michele worked previously as the Children's Librarian at Rowley.


Mary Johnson-Lally is the interim director at Haverhill Public Library. Nancy Rea was the previous Director. She is now the Deputy Director at the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (see http://www.nmrls.org/news/nov06/mblc.shtml.


Brian Tata is the new LMS for Littleton High School.


Christi Showman Farrar, the Children's Librarian at Flint Memorial in North Reading, has left her position to become the Young Adult Librarian at Woburn. Christi was President of NOBS.


Kelley Rae Unger, the Children's Librarian at the Peabody Institute Library in Peabody, is leaving her position but not Peabody to work in the Reference Department. Kelley was a real vital member of the Youth Services Committee and her lively enthusiastic input will be missed!


Ellen Nickerson, Children's Librarian at the Winthrop Public Library for nearly 36 years, is the recipient of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce's 2007 Town Service Award. Each year the Chamber picks one individual for this honor to "express its appreciation for that person's extraordinary commitment and service to the Town. Ellen will receive the award at the Chamber's annual kick-off Dinner & Awards night in January. Please join us all in congratulating Ellen! Jim Matarazzo, Chairman of the Winthrop Library's Board of Trustees and Dean Emeritus at the Simmons College GSLIS, is the co-author of "In Living Color: How to be popular," which discusses the issue of the shrinking number of librarians coming along to replace the "baby boomers" in the September issue of "American Libraries."
