Foundations for Management and Supervision workshops

Pat Sordill presented two Foundations for Management and Supervision workshops on October 29. NMRLS had a crowded conference room for both, with participants coming from all supervisory levels at public, academic, and school libraries.

The morning workshop covered the basics of management and supervision; the afternoon followed with discussion on the performance review process and bringing out the best in each employee.

Pat will be coming back to NMRLS on January 29, 2008 for two more workshops. These will focus on communications skills, the framework for successful workplace relationships. You'll learn strategies for listening, hearing, verbal, and non-verbal communications.

These sessions are important for staff at all levels.

Outreach to Spanish Speakers

This program is designed to empower library staff to reach out to Spanish speakers and increase their access to technology. The workshop will build staff knowledge of Spanish-speaking residents and impact the Hispanic community by increasing their awareness of local library services and public access computing.

This is an all-day program appropriate for public, school, academic and special libraries.

Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
