New Teacher Orientation at Wilmington Memorial Library
On Wednesday, September 20th, thirty Wilmington Public School teachers attended a new teacher orientation at the Wilmington Memorial Library. The orientation session was presented by Library Director Tina Stewart, Children's Librarian Susan MacDonald, Teen Services Librarian Brandy Danner and Reference and Adult Services Librarian Linda Callahan.
Library staff presented information about library services that are available to teachers and students including a demonstration of research databases provided by the library and the Northeast Massachusetts Regional Library System. Each teacher received a packet with library information including how to send "assignment alerts" to the public library so that material can be organized in advance to help students meet the assignment goals.
Assistant Superintendent of Wilmington Public Schools, Joanne Benton, began including this introduction to the public library for new teachers in September 2005, as part of their orientation to the Wilmington Public Schools.
