Library Card Sign Up in Methuen
Submitted by Maria Mastricola, LMS, Methuen High School
To make things easier for parents as well as promote library card sign up month, we invited the Nevins Memorial Library to our High School Open House night. During the evening, parents have the opportunity to signup for library cards. We include this information in the letter that goes home to parents regarding open house, we place announcements in the daily bulletins and we encourage teachers to discuss this service with their classes. On the night of open house - we place signs around the school (in English and Spanish) to remind people of our location. We sit outside the media center with the Nevins at a small table. The student helpers for the evening are great at helping us to promote this service. I feel even if a few people sign up, it's a wonderful service that promotes our connection to the community.
Kara Schwartz is the new LMS for Newbury Elementary School. Kara was formerly the LMS for one of our Everett Schools.
