The effects of last year's budget decrease of 23.8 percent compelled NMRLS to carefully scrutinize staffing levels. After a thorough analysis, the Personnel and Budget Committees sent the recommendation to the Executive Board to eliminate the position of Training Support Specialist. The Executive Board approved this recommendation and an associated budget revision on July 25, 2003. This action resulted in a lay off of Training Support Specialist, Dawn Fanning, who was with NMRLS for some four years. NMRLS staff and members, who had frequent contact with her as our friendly voice at the reception desk, all wish her the best.

Funding has been shifted mainly to electronic database services. Our plan of service for FY2004 remains the same with the possibility of a small reduction in the level of continuing education services. However, minor member services changes are expected.

Member Services Changes:

Telephone System - We will rely on our voicemail system more often. You may be greeted by a recording and be prompted to enter a staff member's extension. They are as follows:

Not sure who you need to speak with - 0
Susan Babb - 17
Mary Behrle - 14
Lucie Gallagher - 11
Susan Grabski - 13
Scott Kehoe - 16
Greg Pronevitz -15

Visiting the Office - We now have only a single staff member working in the reception area. When you arrive the door may be locked. Please ring the door bell to let us know you have arrived. We will continue to ask all visitors to sign in. This is for safety reasons. In case of a building evacuation, we need to know who is in our office.

Registration for Continuing Education Programs - Please continue to address all requests for registration information to info@nmrls.org.
