NMRLS staff visits libraries throughout the region to welcome new staff or to gather information for member services.

Recently, Mary Behrle visited the Essex County Correctional Facility in Middleton where Maureen Maney is completing her first year as county prison librarian. She has already accomplished a great deal - reorganizing the space, building the collection, and making the library more inviting.

Her budget covers only the purchase of legal materials, so she relies on donations for everything else. She is looking for good, current, YA nonfiction on topics in health, nature, Native Americans, and "Chicken Soup" titles. She would also be interested in YA fiction of interest to males, particularly Harry Potter and "Goosebumps" books.

If you can help with spare items in good condition (hardcover or paperback), please call or email Mary Behrle and we'll arrange to get the books to Maureen.
