Here are a few September highlights:
NMRLS will host two identical public library trustee orientation sessions in different parts of the Region -- September 19, NMRLS, Danvers; and October 25, J.V. Fletcher Library, Westford.
There's a Youth Services Orientation, "Unscramble the Alphabet Soup - An Orientation to Programs and Services for YS Librarians" on September 20 and a NMRLS/MSLMA Library Media Specialist "Making Connections" workshop on Inquiry-Based Learning on September 27.
In addition, checkout workshops on MySpace, blogging, podcasting, YouTube and wikis; Microsoft Office Basics (these will be followed by intermediate Office topics in the Spring calendar); grant research and writing; PastPerfect; and learning the latest techie gadgets that your patrons are using.
There are Brown Bags for directors, assistant directors, NextGens, and libraries serving diverse communities.
Linda Braun will teach a workshop (November 2) on "Keeping Your Library and Your Library's Technology Sustainable," funded by the Gates Foundation and WebJunction.
Our 7th annual "Meet the Author" will be held on November 6. This year it's a collaborative program with the Metrowest Region.
Gregor Trinkaus-Randall will present a Basic Book Repair workshop on November 14 at NMRLS.

Look for classes on using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) in your library, working with teens, dealing with difficult patrons, library confidentiality, and recruiting and supervising volunteers. These are free for NMRLS members. Contact Scott Kehoescott@nmrls.org for a password.
