For Youth and Children's Librarians:
The LEGO Group is accepting applications for the LEGO Fund, aimed at children to help them develop their creativity and learning skills through constructive play. This funding initiative is open to local and national organizations that support innovative projects and programming.

Each year the BWI/YALSA Collection Development Award funds two $1,000 awards for collection development to YALSA members who work directly with young adults ages 12 to 18.

The ALSC/Candlewick Press "Light the Way" Grant ($5,000) will be presented to a library conducting exemplary outreach to underserved populations. Special population children may include those who have learning or physical differences, those who are speaking English as a second language, those who are in a non-traditional school environment, those who are in non-traditional family settings, and those who need accommodation service to meet their needs.

The Frances Henne/YALSA/VOYA Research Grant ($500) provides seed money for small scale projects which will encourage research that responds to the YALSA Research Agenda. Applicants must be personal members of YALSA.

The Lois Lenski Foundation awards grants to rural and urban public libraries, serving at-risk children. Successful applicants have proposed purchases to update their collections generally or to expand their holdings in special areas. The Foundation welcomes applications from libraries with real need and limited book budgets.

For Public School Libraries:
Public school libraries serving economically disadvantaged students may apply for one of fifty $1,000 awards to purchase books through the Books Across America Library Books Awards from the National Education Association Foundation.
The applicant must be a practicing pre K-12 school librarian, teacher, or education support professional in a U.S. public school. At least 70 percent of the students in the school must be eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program.

Congratulations to Peabody Institute Library (Peabody), the recipient of a $1,050 Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities grant. The funding will be used to support an exhibit about the role Danvers women played in Civil War relief efforts entitled, In the Spirit of Clara Barton: Almira Fales and the Women of South Danvers
