NMRLS encourages member libraries to share ideas about how they do business by visiting one another, observing collections and workflow, and helping to cover each other service desks. Members of the NMRLS Reference Committee have informally traded places for an afternoon to visit another library and found the experience well worthwhile for learning how other libraries work.
The member libraries listed here have indicated an interest in participating in staff trades, either actively by visiting other institutions, or passively, by inviting others to visit them. NMRLS provides this data merely for informational purposes. Individual libraries may participate to the degree they find useful and possible, and may choose to do so either as informal professional development or more formally as paid substitutes. Libraries are responsible for coordinating their own trading schedules and handling any pay or policy issues involved.
