The NMRLS Executive Board approved a new Strategic Plan for 2005-2010 in October 2005. The plan includes a new mission, vision statement and nine ambitious goals and related objectives set out by the Strategic Planning Committee.

We invited members to participate in developing the plan in several ways.  An online survey was open to all staff in member libraries;  we hosted focus groups to address the needs of many constituencies;  we gathered information to create the Environmental Scan; our consultant interviewed library leaders on trends;  NMRLS committees met to discuss reaction to the planning documents; and attendees at NMRLS Annual Meeting defined steps toward implementation and their prioritization to meet these new goals and allow NMRLS and the membership to attain our vision.

Many members have already volunteered to assist in implementation of the ambitious goals set out in the plan.  If you are interested in participating in one of the areas above and have not yet told us, or if you have comments or questions about the plan, please let me know (greg@nmrls.org).
